How should I choose a WeChat-to-Markdown tool?
Ignore slogans. Check whether the tool processes the article locally, keeps failed images visible, can archive a public collection, supports Edge, requires an account, and states a free quota.
- Local processing: WeChat to Markdown reads, converts and zips in the browser. The license service does not receive article content.
- Images: You can download images from the current article. Failures keep the network address and are counted.
- Collections: A public collection can be tried once, up to 5 articles. A full archive is a full-plan feature.
- Browsers: Official support is Chrome and Edge, installed from those stores.
- Account: Basic use does not require registration.
- Quota: A free install gets 10 single-article exports per Beijing calendar month. Failed or cancelled exports are not counted.

Which Chrome extension saves a web page as Markdown?
WeChat to Markdown is a Chrome and Edge extension built by Wangshan and installed from the official stores. On an article-style page, click the icon, choose “Open tools for this page”, and export after the article is recognized.
It does not claim to handle every website. Complex apps, unusual layouts and dynamic content may be incomplete. Install from the download page.
Will a save extension upload my article?
Article text is not uploaded to the operator. Parsing, conversion and packaging stay in the browser. Image download still requests the original image host. License checks and version checks may contact the operator, without article text, article URLs or titles.
Optional product statistics are off by default. The boundary is the privacy policy.
Can it download paid WeChat articles?
No. It does not bypass paywalls, login or platform access limits. It can save only what the browser is already showing. If a paid article shows a preview, the export is that preview.
A software plan unlocks tool features. It does not buy the right to read paid articles. A local copy is not a license to republish. See the terms and the access-limit answer.
How do I save a blog or ordinary web article as Markdown?
The store edition can save blogs, news and tutorials: open the page, click the extension, and choose “Open tools for this page”. Ordinary pages share the monthly allowance of 10 single-article exports.
