Quick answer
Export the article as local Markdown (optionally with an images ZIP) using WeChat to Markdown first, then move the files into your Obsidian Vault; relative image paths keep images working.
- Exported Markdown includes YAML Front Matter with the title, author, publish date and source link, which makes articles easier to search and archive in Obsidian.
- For offline images, enable image download and keep the extracted folder structure intact. Store-version Markdown images are under _assets/; only successfully downloaded images work offline.
- Batch writing to an Obsidian directory and SiYuan sync are full-plan capabilities; entitlements are listed on the purchase page.
- Move between devices using the local JSON backup export and restore. Local storage is not a permanent backup, so keep a vault-level backup for anything important.
Choose articles before writing to your vault
For a manual workflow, export Markdown and move it into your vault. The full-version integration supports selecting library articles and writing them in batches.
- Save the articles you need into the local library. Successful saves or exports retain article snapshots and source information locally.
- Use the knowledge-base entry in the library and choose the vault root containing
.obsidian, not Downloads or a nested folder. - Filter by source, date or archive collection, select articles and export. Connecting for the first time prompts for a directory even if no articles have been selected.
Your library is not your browsing history
Filters cover only articles you deliberately added or successfully exported. The extension does not scan browsing history or recover articles that were never archived.

Existing notes are protected
- Identical content can be skipped instead of written again.
- Different content with the same filename is saved separately.
- If directory access expires, choose the directory again; permission dialogs do not open automatically in the background.
- Disconnecting removes the stored directory handle. Reconnect before the next export.
Local-first is not a backup plan
The extension library and Obsidian vault are separate copies. Uninstalling can affect the library; files already written to the vault stay under your control. Back up the vault with system backups, version control, cloud sync or periodic copies.
